ASRC Energy Services seeks a Health Safety Environmental Training Manager who is part of the management team that is responsible for planning, implementing and maintaining the occupational health, safety, environmental, and training programs, policies, and procedures throughout the organization. The HSET manager oversees the HSET department and works in conjunction with management to meet Company and customer safety standards, ensure regulatory compliance, and establish appropriate processes to manage risks and improve performance throughout the Company.

  • Periodic travel to remote sites. 
  • Plan, implement, and maintain HSE programs, policies, and procedures in coordination with the Sr. HSET Director and department personnel to ensure safety practices are consistent with applicable laws, standards, and Company policies.
  • Maintain and distribute regulatory compliance information to HSE personnel and management.
  • Perform facility inspections to identify potential health, safety, and environmental hazards.
  • Investigate and document accidents, injuries, and unsafe workplace conditions and practices.
  • Provide support to management and HSE specialists, and trainers as necessary.
  • Prepare incident reports and update all applicable databases and spreadsheets to maintain accurate records.
  • Develop and implement solutions to mitigate identified workplace safety hazards.
  • Maintain a comprehensive understanding of Alaska Workers’ Compensation Law, OSHA recordkeeping guidelines, knowledge of LMS systems and VTA (Virtual Training Assistant) software suite. 
  • Ability and willingness to train General and Construction Industry courses, First Aid/CPR/AED, NSTC courses and other courses designated by client and regulatory requirements. 
  • Other duties as assigned. 
  • Comply with Company and customer policies and procedures.
  • Support AES zero-incident safety culture and assume personal accountability and responsibility for safe work practices in all projects, activities, and operations.

  • Bachelor’s degree in occupational safety, industrial hygiene, or safety-related field preferred
  • Associate’s degree with ten years of safety experience in lieu of bachelor’s degree may be considered. 
  • Strong knowledge of State and Federal Health, Safety and Environmental regulations 
  • Sound administrative skills, well-developed managerial skills of principles and people and the ability to delegate responsibilities
  • Ability to read and analyze financial and non-financial reports to reach informed decisions
  • Effective oral communication with the ability to give presentation to small and large groups including executive and corporate staff.
  • Excellent interpersonal and organization skills
  • Strong knowledge, understanding and sensitivity to the Inupiat culture
  • Direct Reports: Field Safety Specialists

Certified Safety Professional (CSP), or Certified Industrial Hygienist (CIH) certification required. A Bachelor’s degree in related field with an ASP may be considered in lieu of CSP certification, with the expectation of a CSP certification to be obtained within 6 months.  North Slope Training Cooperative (NSTC) safety training certification required.

A candidate must be able to meet the following non-exclusive requirements:                                                               

  • Take and pass a pre-employment drug test which may include both UA and hair testing.                         
  • Meet the physical requirements of this position including working in a remote location under arctic conditions.
  • Must be able to obtain and maintain an access badge for the work location.

The availability of this position is contingent upon the Company’s continued operational needs once training is completed.
