The Material Handler/Expeditor is a member of the Purchasing / Logistics Department with the responsibility of facilitating the timely flow of materials to and from various departments, job sites, and vendors. 

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES (and other duties as assigned)
To perform this position successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential function satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required. 1. Expedites the transfer of materials as required to or from various freight carrier or local/statewide project locations
2. Examines material received, verifies parts numbers, and checks discrepancies such as damaged or unmarked parts; ensures the quality and quantities of goods received are that which was ordered
3. Work and coordinate with vendors and project teams to ensure on-time, accurate quality, and quantity of good delivered to appropriate locations
4. Receive goods as required and notate within the organizations ERP system
5. Maintain inventory: quantity, type of material/parts receive and distributed as they move through the yard
6. Confer with purchasing coordinators and project managers on orders being tracked to determine overdue materials and parts, and inform those involved of the material status as applicable
7. Move, lift, and handle material shipments as required when offloading company freight
8. Properly identify, package, label and prepare materials for shipment per instructions from the project team
9. Assess materials for shipment to determine if they require handling as hazardous materials
10. Review and prepare hazardous material declarations, manifests, bills of lading, and other shipping papers as required for transportation to and from company locations, as applicable
11. Maintain records, documents, and receipts of shipments for recordkeeping and reporting requirements
12. Support the overall organization and control of materials, tools, and equipment in the ACHC yard, including stowage, sorting, loading, unloading and inventory of storage containers and trailers
13. Some use of basic power tools (drills, hammers, and various cutting devices) for assembling shipping crates


1. High School Diploma or GED
2. Three to five (3-5) years working as an expeditor or shipping and receiving
3. Ability to operate a forklift
4. Strong use of technology: phone, iPad, and computer
5. Proficient in MS Office Suite:  Word and Excel
6. Ability to solve problems and issues
7. Ability to interact and communicate effectively with others
8. Ability to juggle and prioritize multiple tasks thru completion
9. Strong focus on safety and quality
10. Ability and willingness to abide by ACHC code of conduct, policies, and procedures
11. Ability to work outside or in a cold environment for long durations
12. Display knowledge, understanding, and sensitivity to the Inupiat Culture

1. Valid driver’s license required
2. Current DOT Medical Card (Preferred)
3. Hazmat IATA Dangerous Good Transportation (Preferred)
4. Hazmat Transportation DOT (Preferred)
